My goal as a childbirth educator is to help expectant parents feel confident and prepared for their upcoming birth experience. Whether you are birthing at a hospital, birth center, or at home, you are therefore able to take a private class and rest assured that you will know what to expect when (or if) you are admitted to the hospital. If you tend to be more private or have a really busy schedule, a private class might be the perfect option for you. I also teach private “refresher” classes for families who have already had a baby; this can be especially beneficial if you had a difficult previous birth experience and are looking for education and support around what you can do differently this time around to improve your birth experience.
The birth of your baby is a really important experience and I highly encourage you to get the information and resources you need to ensure the best birth possible. While my classes are catered to your specific needs, place of birth and labor preferences, a typical private class will include the following topics:
The signs and stages of labor
Envisioning your ideal birth
Communicating with your care providers
Labor preferences/birth plans
Coping mechanisms for labor
The partner’s role in childbirth and beyond
Techniques for soothing a fussy baby
Infant Massage Lessons
Postpartum planning and resources
My private childbirth education classes are a total of 6 hours and can be scheduled all at once or split into multiple sessions on days/times that works for everyone. If you are also including this service with a Birth Doula package, we can add the classes into the prenatal sessions as well.
